New sponsorship from award-winning EdTech company Scanning Pens

The team at nasen are delighted to announce new sponsorship from the award-winning EdTech company Scanning Pens. Scanning Pens supplies text-to-speech devices to support people with dyslexia, and other people whose daily lives are impacted by literacy differences.

Founded in 2003, the company creates easy-to-use portable, pen-shaped devices that can give a significant boost to the quality-of-life of many people with learning differences, removing the need for in-person readers and modified texts. As a result, the pens enable reading to become an independent act for those who might otherwise struggle.

Commenting on the sponsorship, Amrit Singh – nasen’s Chief Operating Officer – explained more about its significance: “Approximately one in 10 people in the UK are dyslexic, with hundreds of thousands of children and young people estimated to currently be under the radar and undiagnosed in England alone. We have formed this new partnership with Scanning Pens to combine our strengths in making a difference to children and young people with SEND, and I’m excited about what we will achieve together.”

Scanning Pens CEO, Jack Churchill, added: “We’re delighted to be partnering with nasen as their cause and mission is so aligned with our own. The work that nasen does is now more important than ever, during a year where we’re beginning to see the effect that the global COVID-19 situation has had on those in SEND. We’re excited be part of the positive change that supports people with SEND and learning differences all over the country.”

Scanning Pens joins fellow nasen headline sponsors, Axcis Education and GL Assessment, during an exciting period of unparalleled growth and transition for the charity in the UK and worldwide. They will be an integral supporter of this year’s milestone nasen Live conference, which takes place face-to-face in Birmingham on Friday 24 September.
