Government seeks your views on behaviour in schools

DfE

The Department of Education has launched an open consultation to help inform their review of behaviour guidance and suspensions and permanent exclusions guidance to be undertaken later this year.

Their aim is to improve the experiences of all children and young people in school and support schools to create a culture where all pupils and staff feel safe, wanted and welcomed so they can reach their full potential.
To better meet this aim, they are looking to capture the perspectives and experiences of education professionals in schools, local authorities and children’s services, and parents and carers to provide a clearer picture of current practice.

The review calls for evidence on:

  • behaviour support strategies
  • banning mobile phones from the school day
  • ‘removal rooms’ and spaces
  • in-school behavioural units
  • managed moves

The consultation runs from Tuesday 29th June to Monday 9th August 2021.
