Specialist Spotlight: Creating an emotionally safe environment (Primary)
- Online
- 23 Apr 2024 (16:00 - 17:00)
Join us for a FREE discussion exploring approaches to creating a emotionally safe environment in primary settings.
The discussion will be hosted by Whole School SEND’s regional lead, Rachel Hargreaves, and everyone will be encouraged to join in, ask questions and share experiences. As such, content will be responsive but may cover some or all of the following themes:
- factors that are key to emotional safety, and
- approaches that help promote emotional safety for learners
It’s a great opportunity to hear from an experienced specialist, network with colleagues from across the country, and share learnings.
The discussion builds on our 20 minute online SEND CPD units. While everyone is welcome to take part in the session, delegates who have completed the corresponding unit content in preparation are likely to find the sessions particularly helpful.
Due to the interactive nature of these sessions, recordings will not be made available after the event.

Dr Marie House, Educational Psychologist
I began my career in education as a secondary school teacher before training as an Educational Psychologist nineteen years ago. The majority of my time as an Educational Psychologist has been working for Nottinghamshire County Council, where I have had the opportunity to contribute to a wide range of development projects and have been seconded to work with a large primary multi-academy trust for the last five years for a day week. In addition, I am a tutor on the Doctorate in Applied Educational Psychology professional training programme at the University of Nottingham; supervising research which provides a unique contribute to the fields of education and educational psychology.
My professional interests are wide ranging but a constant throughout my career has been my commitment to promoting and facilitating inclusion, and how children and young people learn, particularly the importance of memory, speech and language and emotional well-being.
